You left out a great old game show, I’ve got a Secret. Remember it? Where someone did something remarkable like build a M1 tank out of old soup cans and you had to pick them from a line of 2 liars. The liars were always more believable. Even after the show ended you weren’t convinced they had the right one.
You’re going to do an MST3K version of the Hucklebug next time? Who is playing Crow? My money is on Stennie.
All this stuff with Bet and Alan Arkin is starting to creep me out. I expect to see a headline “Internet podcaster found stalking semi-famous movie actor”.
My favorite line of Ian Richardson from House of Cards is “You might think that, but I couldn’t possibly say.” Motto of my life. Not very many people get that reference.
“Brazil” is one of those movies I appreciate, but didn’t really enjoy. Rather like “Being John Malkovich”. I don’t understand why I didn’t like them more in the actual viewing.
I’m so with you on the toothpaste thing. I’m a Colgate plain old white paste gal. I can deal with the tartar control version, but beyond that, no. But they’re coming out with all kinds of nasty ones. And maybe I’m brainwashed, but toothpaste should be minty, (peppermint, please) or in an emergency, cinnamony. What’s with these fruity flavors? I just don’t feel that ‘fresh feeling’ with these new weird flavors. Vanilla mint? It’s kind of got that same weird nasty flavor profile as orange juice immediately after brushing one’s teeth.
I always had a soft spot for “Remote Control”. Where else could you play “Dead or Canadian” and really not know the answer? Flying Cheetos? A friend of mine was actually a contestant. But Match Game is the true classic. And I think I did see “Trench Hand”. Another great one is the Newlywed Game, only for the bad 70s hair and the opportunity to observe really bad couples. My two favorites—the guy who looked like my high school physics teacher, who had just married this young girl who had been his high school student, and the answer to the best place to make whoopee? “Up the Butt”.
Have a great week.
Elizabeth, you are NOT blonde, and being blonde doesn’t have anything to do with glasses!
Stennie, Woody Allen doesn’t play the clarinet, he plays the drums using a clarinet.
Stennie, you’re getting PBBBT down really well.
Well, I don’t think I was unimpressed with the “things I don’t get” segment because you guys didn’t get things I like—while there were some things you didn’t get that I do like, there were others that I don’t like. To clarify, my feeling is that, while you are often unfairly judgemental on your show (which I’m cool with), this time ‘round you seemed to be pretty negative and not really justified in it. Or maybe it was that you just weren’t very funny.
COOL STICKER, I’m waiting on the logo, though. It’s a cool sticker (looks like a sticker a dislexic person from Beverly Hills would have on their car) but it should say “hucklebug.com” on it so it’ll help advertize. Just my opinion, of course. I’d definitely buy the Hucklebug cock ring, though I would never wear it… in public…
Great, now I HAVE to see Jesus Camp! I can’t wait to get mad and storm around the living room!
What does “twii” mean? Did I even spell it right?
You can enjoy Bond while not approving of the social messages it sends. I give you permission.
A movie is a reflection of the time in which it was created, generally speaking and Goldfinger is no exception.
I DON’T HATE ALAN ARKIN! I actually dig him. I just thought he doesn’t deserve an Oscar for Sunshine. I do think he deserves one, though—so if he gets one, I’ll be happy.
Congrats on winning that cash from those casinos! Congrats on getting your purse back, too! Damn—I would have been freaking out if I lost my sling bag, which is effectively my purse.
I agree on the CNN.com videos. Thinking just that thing yesterday. I also agree with the sites that slam sound at you right upon loading—they SUCK.
And I’d like to ask for an unofficial fuck off to people who are dragging this Anna Nicole Smith thing on and on and on—especially though, I’d like to say “fuck off” to the folks that insist upon judging her negatively. SHE’S DEAD, let’s move on with our lives, please. Thiiinx!
Hey, the commentary thing—Mike Nelson of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame does the commentary thing, too. He apparently does quite well with it. Check out his site at RiffTrax.com We watched Phantom Menace with his commentary and it ALMOST made the film bearable. 🙁
Great show! When will you do guilty pleasures if next week is the commentary episode? Perhaps you should do the commentary track seperately?
I just read the sad news. The inventor of the TV remote control has died. Except for microwave popcorn and pop top beer cans, the remote is the single greatest invention of the 20th century. I think this deserves a special RIP on your next Hucklebug. His name was Robert Adler and he was 93. Lets all hang our head in gratitude for the couch potato lifestyle he made possible.
I’d like to echo ThePete. If one more person comes foward and claims to be the father of her daughter, listen for my ear piercing scream. Now, Harry Connick has done it, and I just don’t think it’s funny. Loved your Vday podcast. I’m only halfway through though…
I too loved Brazil, strange as it was. Have you seen “Brother from Another Planet?” that wasn’t on your list…
Hey ladies – been traveling again so I’m behind a week….
Bond. Love Bond! I love it when TBS and Spike run those marathons – I will just put them on and have it in the background all day. I’m hip to the spy stuff and gadgets.
Alan Arkin on Sunday morning – sorry I missed that! (An aside, the bus was really cool with those dancers on the Oscars, as I suspected!! Love the new glasses (from the blog) – very nice.
It’s not a whim if you have clean underwear – I’m going to file this one away!
Stennie – glad you came out ahead on the gambling! Congrats on getting your purse back!! A note from your blog – thanks so much for posting the lego Escher stuff – so fun!!
Bet – CNN.com video. I totally know what you mean – I hate those as well. I’m always so disappointed to start to click and pbbbt! Definite FO!
Game shows – loved Pyramid & Password as well! You guys did a great job of sounding like Match Game!! Oh yeah – I liked Scrabble as well – that was one of those things I’d watch in the good old summer mornings when off from school!!
Wow – looking forward to the In-Laws commentary. I guess I better check the good ole Blockbuster since I kept Bet’s copy for months the last time I borrowed it!!!!
