    ROPE NOT A GOOD FILM???

Wooow… so it gets no points for discussing the moral issues of whether or not it’s right to kill a man who contributes nothing to society?  Man, I dig the whole technical stuff of that movie, but the story is really what does it for me.  The damn movie starts up with a dude getting strangled for crying out loud, then he spends the rest of the movie under the dinner buffet!  Sheesh.

An “experiment” in what?  And it wasn’t done in one take—that would have been impossible.  They had special extra large film magazines made to handle extra long takes, but doing an entire film in one take would be impossible with one camera.  Instead, they use camera tricks to hide the cuts.  But that’s beside the point in my mind.  I found it to be a very cool exploration of immorality among rich white guys—a topic I’m already pretty passionate about.  In fact—I think this film could have shoved me in that direction in the first place.

    CHICKS.

    wink

Did I miss where the genesis of the pig fucker came from… 🙁  I’m sure I heard it, but I must have not been listening…

I think YOU GUYS should get a YOU RULE for doing the podcastathon!!

Aren’t all of your podcasts available on odeo.com?

TWoP was bought by Bravo? Say it ain’t so. If we start getting nothing but glowing reviews of Top Chef and Project Runway, I’m going to hunt someone down. That sucks. TWoP is one of the best sites out there, and it would suck to see it go corporate.

Songs: The first one on your list (1965) sounds very Tom Jones-ish. I kind of hear it in my head. I don’t know which one, though.

1976 is not Leaving on Jet Plane, unless there’s an unpublished verse somewhere.

I wouldn’t be sad at knowing some of those. Just because they’re caught in our heads forever doesn’t make them great songs.

  3. Mike says:

Not bad, chicks!  By my count, Stennie got 7 on her own, Bet got 5, and you both got 2 together:

1967: Something Stupid – Frank & Nancy Sinatra
    1968: Harper Valley P.T.A. – Jeannie C. Riley
1969: I Can’t Get Next To You – The Temptations
1970: Tears Of A Clown – The Miracles
    1971: It’s Too Late – Carole King
1972: Me & Mrs. Jones – Billy Paul
1973: Let’s Get It On – Marvin Gaye
    1974: Billy Don’t Be A Hero – Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods
    1975: Lady Marmalade – LaBelle
    1977: Rich Girl – Hall & Oates
1978: Hot Child In The City – Nick Gilder
    1981: Jessie’s Girl – Rick Springfield
1983: Tell Her About It – Billy Joel
1984: Missing You – John Waite

That leaves 1965 and 1966, which you finally got later on, 1976, which you cheated to get, 1979, 1980, and 1982 (which you got later on).  Those again:

    1965
Once I thought that love was meant for anyone else but me
Once I thought you’d never come my way

    1966
You could have done something, but you didn’t try
You didn’t do nothing, you let her walk by

    1976
Please don’t stop me ‘til I’m through
This is something I hate to do

    1979
    Love is so confusing
    There’s no peace of mind
(Hint: the video for this one changed my life)

    1980
You want some peace and understanding
    So everybody can be free

    1982
    Wouldn’t wanna be swept away
    Far away
From the one that I love

I’ve got another quiz for #2 songs, but I’ll post that one in a few weeks.

What the hell am I listening to? You two are absolutely nuts. I love it!

My buddy Dennis Cozzalio dropped you some props in his latest blog entry. I have to say that Dennis is rearely wrong when it comes to recommending something truely entertaining and smart.

You have a new listener in me. I’ll link your site on my blog, citizensofborach.

Incidentally, Stennie… you should get together and have Dennis over for one of your Podcasts. He’s close by and a really funny guy. Just don’t tell him he’s funny, cuz he gets real full of himself.

    Just kiddin’

    Ready for my shoutout!

I know some of the song titles:

1979 is Blondie, Heart of Glass
1980 is Paul McCartney, Coming Up
1982 is Chicago, Love Me Tomorrow

The Chicago song has been an earworm for days and days. It finally came to me yesterday.

Tomorrow is the last film of the Chicago Outdoor Film Festival, and the movie they are showing is The Sound of Music. It is a sing-along. I so wish you guys could do the podcast from there.

What is your favorite song from the movie? And don’t tell me you don’t have one! Mine has to be the Lonely Goatherd. (Yodelay-yodelay-yodelay hE Hooo)
