Thanks—the boy does open his eyes from time to time, but he hides from the camera. I’m a bad mommy—I don’t take that many pictures. As cute as he is, strangely, all the pictures kind of look the same at this point. And I’m not taking the pictures of the truly funny stuff, which involves some of the contortions I go through to feed my child (does that pass muster, Michelle? Not mentioning exactly what kind of contortions they are, and no fluids mentioned).

I thought everyone sat with the comments open as they listened—that’s what I do. Although now, I can’t really as I think it may take me all week to get through one hour.

  2. LilyG says:

Another comment from the second listening session. Regarding Tilda Swinton being like Bowie—go rent Orlando. I’ve always been mildly creeped out by her since that one. I think that one of the next movies I saw after that was “The Man Who Fell To Earth”. They both blend in my head.

  3. Michelle says:

I’ll have more comments later today – I need another listen. I just wanted to say, Wow-Mr. Middlebrow!

And Lily, that is perfectly fine. Thank you for your understanding!

  4. I just want to go on record as saying that I have never spent actual money on any guilty pleasure. Or, at least not the more egregious ones… :^\

That’s got to count for something, right?

In fact, I’m beginning to think that the existence of Napster and Limewire and the like was predicated entirely on the notion that people don’t mind paying for good/respectable music, but no way would they part with their hard-earned for the sake of a secret shame.

Also, I have to reiterate what an abundant, luxuriant (and yet totally guilt-free) pleasure it was hanging with you two. The Hucklebug is that rare exception to the old Groucho Marx rule about not wanting to belong to any club that would have you as a member.

  5. Michelle says:

That’s right – I listen to the HB Thursday morning on the way to work. If I’m lucky, and I’ve been very lucky lately, the show spans my trip to home, too. I take notes about what I want to comment about.

Now come on, you really humored me about the Svengali? You knew and let me go on? Ugh, I knew I had a reason to be embarrassed. But I totally did NOT say Brian Adams. I hate him. Haaaiiiite Brian Adams. I quite like Ryan. I just don’t like that song.

Deadhead Miles is now on DVD – and it is on its way to me through Netflix. I can’t WAIT to finally see this damned film. I’ll consider it a very intimate moment between us, Betster.

Also for Bet – do we get to see pictures of your hair?

I would like request a Fuck Off please to the makers of KY Jelly. I’m so sick of hearing about lube everywhere I go, and now they’re showing it in MOVIE THEATERS where I was forced to see this ad in mixed company. Embarrassed the ever-living shit out of me.

You both seem to have forgotten that I now own a Kazoo. I bought it in Cleveland, OH and it cost me $2.50. So there are THREE of us on the planet with kazoos.

  6. Mike says:

Stennie wasn’t that far off in regards to Glen Hansard’s suit.  He only bought it a few days before the Oscar ceremony, and refused to wear a black tie with it.  Also, instead of staying at some posh hotel at the expense of the label, they crashed at a friend’s house.  Probably borrowed a car to get to the theater, too.

Great to hear Middlebrow on the podcast, you all had some great alternate selections.

  7. Kellie says:

    Happy Late Birthday Bet!
I’m pretty sure there are incriminating photos of me in the overalls – I did wear them for Halloween sometime.

Michael Clayton – I’m glad to hear you like this – that is on my list to see.  How funny – Tilda Swinton David Bowie.  Anyone other actors or actresses that you think could play “the other sex?”

  8. thepete says:

CONGRATS TO LILY FOR THE BABY!  Nicholas is adorable, btw. smile

Michelle, “Dead Head Miles” is on DVD?  FINALLY.  I think we’ll ALL have to netflix that!!

Mike: RE: Hansard and what’s her name borrowing a car to get to the Oscars—actually, the number 2 bus goes almost exactly by the Kodak Theater.  I take it all the time and can climb off on Sunset and walk two blocks to get there.  It’s so easy.  Plus it’s the fare is just $1.25!

I do often sit here in front of the computer while listening to you guys.  Back when I was still temping it was easy.  Nowadays, not so much.

I didn’t mean to embarrass Dishy by correcting her!

    And what is Dishy’s blog?

I don’t remember rape in Sin City, but I do remember thinking that EVERYone in it was corrupt, and evil (hence the title) and the one guy who wasn’t evil or corrupt dies.  I had to shower after seeing it.

Agreed re: “Michael Clayton”.  Really excellent movie.

What was the version of the Hucklebuck song after you guys talked about Shaun?

I like what Bono does for humanity, but he does seem kinda stuck up.  South Park made fun of him recently—it was pretty funny.

I thought that Oscar montage was about academy members who had died—not fucking agents.  Makes no sense to me.  Renfro totally got snubbed.

Yay, Mr. Middlebrow!  Well done, sir!  No one has not played a kazoo like you!  EVAR!

Can we call you Mr. MB?

I think pink is the old new black.

I think I would impress you guys with my guilty pleasure songs.  I have many of them.  All very guilty.

Great show, you guys!  Seriously.  It was really good.

    I’ve heard it in stories…

PS: I have a digital version of my novel available now!  Just $2!!!

Help!  I don’t want to go back to temping!  Please buy my book! raspberry
