  1. Siskita says:

I always like Pete & my “Guacafishy” which is simply:

Smushed avocado (1 per person), shredded smoked salmon, lemon juice, salt, garlic salt (optional) – mix all according to taste/consistency.  Scoop with chips, bread, or just shovel in mouth with a fork.

Some future RIP’s that just came in the last few days:

Bettie Page – feminist in her own way
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_page
Van Johnson – boyish man-actor, played drunk sarcastic parts, even in MGM musicals.  Fav. of ours in “Brigadoon” & MST3K’s “San Francisco International”
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Johnson
Forrest J. Ackerman – what more to say about the world’s first/best SciFi collector/geek?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forrest_J_Ackerman

    All will be missed!

  2. Patrick says:

Middlebrow was right: he deflected any fallout for stating an unpopular opinion. Hmmm. Wonder what else I can get away with saying….

A fuck off by proxy to Rod Blagojevich, our second governor in a row to get arrested. P.S. Who replaces GWB in the #1 spot for FO’s when he’s out of office?

Also, just saw MILK. Why, why in God’s name did they not release this flick before voting started on Prop 8? Perhaps it’ll help the cause in starting to overturn it.

    Comments about alt-tracks:
Bet, I take no offense about Morrissey sucking solo. Always kinda felt that too. Suedehead is just one of the exceptions to the rule.

I was also thisclose to using So Like Candy.

So glad you didn’t use Jeremy for school song. That song has been literally played so much it’s lost all freaking meaning. And I’ve got a soft spot for Be True to Your School. Maybe I live in the bizarro music universe.

Used to have the vinyl for the B-52s Whammy!, incl. Don’t Worry. Loaned and never returned, but good to hear from an old fave.

If there are scheduling conflicts for guests, I’d gladly step aside for another time. Maybe we can talk about movies sometime. Or just to BS, which is really the only reason to invite me in the first place.

All in all, I give this podcast the only appropriate rating: 4 stars.

  3. If there’s anyone I like more than Nicholas Cage, it’s definitely Ashton Kutcher

    He rulz!!!!

    psych.

  4. ThePete says:

Nicholas Cage was just fine in “Raising Arizona”.  He also directed a film with James Franco (blanking on the title) that was pretty good.  However, he can really stop acting now…for ever.

That’s awesome that you’re doing the documentary thing, Sten! There’s lots to catch up with. I’ve heard “Taxi to the Dark Side” is good, though I have yet to see it.  There are a lot of docus I have yet to see because I watch too much depressing stuff as it is. :\  The sad thing about Iraq is that if you pretend, for a moment, that the only motivation for being there is to make money for American military contractors you see that it’s working out really well.  I’m not saying that was the motivation for turning it into the fubar mess that it is, but gosh I wish I had me some stock in Blackwater.

    OK, not really.

Speaking of docus, I just watched Barbet Schroeder’s “Idi Amin Dada: A Self Portrait”.  The dude was the George W. of his day.  Seemed completely fucking delusional.  Like Bush, he seemed like he really believed the crap he was saying.

Sorry about the bad Hackensperience, Bet!  That sucks. 🙁  At least you know you’ll enjoy the Hackensaw Boys at a future date.  It would really suck if you only rarely saw them.

I use Quicktime Pro. iMovie is absurdly complicated for what it claims to be.  It’s no Vegas Video, but much it’s more complicated that QT Pro.  QT Pro is a breeze—I think I left something about this on Facebook for you, Bet. Did you not see it? Or did FB eat my post? 🙁

I agree, Bet—“Kinky Boots” was fun.

Once again, I live in shame of what has become of my father’s work.  I swear he had no idea that little logo in the corner would be so annoying 🙁  Just drop TV—watch the Internet, Bet.

We have seen both of our cats look really sad—usually in the middle of and just after a bath.

Hey, would Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2” be a good choice for the school song?

I second Siskita’s fondness of Guacafishy.  That shit is brilliant.  In fact, we haven’t eaten that in ages.  It’s time, I think…

    blahblahblah Hucklebug

    Awesome. Slogan.

    NICE belch Bet!!  YEAH!

  5. Marla Marla Marla says:

Hey there, just a quick comment or two..

I loved Kitchen Nightmares, I loved Gordon Ramsey’s demeanor, he was like Don Rickles with a switchblade and no “humor” And most of those restaurants he “fixed” tanked shortly thereafter….

Hopefully next week will work for me to be your “special” guest, if not, it was very very flattering and cool to be asked.

And finally, I think I may have been facebook hacked last night, I can’t log in or change my password.  If any of you got something from “me” last night or today, IT WAS NOT ME!!!  I’m working on it.  I hope I don’t have to cancel this account…what a PAIN!!

BTW, it’s 26 degrees here and 18 degrees at home.  WTF???

  7. Crystal says:

Siskita, thank you for the guacafishy recipe. It was quite good although I must confess that my aunt made it for me. She refuses to believe anyone but her can cook. I really want to learn how to cook healthy meals for myself.  I’d like to move on from desserts because I’ve tried to stay away from sugar as much as possible the last couple years because I was getting so many colds.  When I stay away from sugar, I rarely if ever get colds. Siskita, you are married to ThePete, right? It would be nice if I got one Hucklebug family tree relationship correct.

Bet, I don’t eat red meat, but I would like your meatloaf recipe as my family loves meatloaf, and I have a recipe for chickpea meatloaf that I could use for myself.

I think Ashton Kutcher is sexy beautiful. He’s capable of showing talent, but I’ve long since given up on ever seeing that talent in my lifetime. In his own inarticulate way, he’s also quite a human rights activist, but I still wouldn’t label him as particularly talented in any of his films.

Count me in the pro-James Dean camp. I thought he was spectacular in GIANT. I understand why people don’t like him though because I have the same problems when I watch some of Brando’s performances.

Bet, why can’t you just get a job with the Hackensaw Boys? I’d imagine it would save you money to be their tour manager or professional groupie or something to that effect.

A huge YOU RULE to the Iraqi journalist who threw shoes at George W. Bush. A FUCK OFF to the journalist for having bad aim.

A FUCK off to BBCAMERICA for programs like I married my sister; granny lovers; I’m in love with a doll, etc. Is this what the British think of us? When they do show decent programs, they edit the shit out of them. FUCK OFF again BBCAMERICA. Another FUCKOFF to ABC for cancelling PUSHING DAISIES.

A YouRULE to Bet and Stennie for creating an entertaining and though-provoking show with social and political ramifications so far-reaching that they will manifest themselves into the next decade. No, I’m not drunk. I’m just slap happy.

  8. LilyG. says:

I don’t think I’m going to get around to this week’s Hucklebug for another few days, so happy holidays to all. My computer is asking me to upgrade its operating system. Quite nicely, although it’s very excited because the icon is jumping up and down in the corner. Let’s see if I ever get back on here again.

  9. Kellie says:

Love the King Curtis version of the Hucklebuck!  By the way – thanks for the Facebook push.  I’ve had a fun weekend looking around.

I really like to Kill a Mockingbird – I remember reading it then watching the movie in high school – and my weekend of Facebook has me filled with thoughts of high school days.

Bet – what a bummer. That’s a terrible low light – that sucks about the parking & the sucky pre-band.  Way to go Ferd for getting your fav songs in!

  10. Kellie says:

Dang it – forgot I really came on to say Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays if ya’ll are gone next week!!
