  1. Duke says:

You two made the most perfect Huckle-temps! Thanks for doing a podcast. It was marvelous.

I thought your puppet pals might make a vocal appearance. Were they still drinking from the night before?

speaking of vocal, what a great rendition of the hucklebuck at the begining! I vote it as the new lead-in for all future podcasts. Siskita, you continue to amaze us with your vocal talents.

As per shout-outs, there is never anything hostile in any of my comments. I’m just poking fun. No hot dog feud or hair style competition either. Why would I say anything mean to Bet or Stennie? They’d beat the crap out of me!!! I know when I’m at the disadvantage.

You both hit on a point I also share about the sense of community around the Hucklebug. Stennie and Bet spend a lot of time making a podcast each week. It’s a lot of work, epecially the editing Stennie does. The result is a glimpse into the close friendship they share and the obvious enjoyment they have in each other’s company. The hucklebug listeners are also long term friends who participate and create a sense of community. Speaking as an outsider looking in, all this is very obvious and helps make the hucklebug special.

What’s it say when I look at a list of the 50 worst movies of all time and I’ve seen every last one of them? Not the MST3K version, I mean the actual movie. I have many of them on DVD, including ulta rare copies of The Creeping Terror that were never released in any video format including VHS.

You were both great, Thepete and Siskita. Thanks for an entertaining hour!

    Hucklebuds!

I know we’re not really allowed to choose our own shout-out music, but I would have thought mine would be easy:  “Stennie & the Jets”!

Thanks so much for subbing in this week, you guys—you are awesome!  I can see now why ThePete’s comments are always so long, the whole time I was listening I was wanting to chime in.

Re: the shower curtain. Nothing nefarious going on there, I just thought I’d already covered this topic, but maybe it was lost on the cutting-room floor. I’m fond of this one: http://tinyurl.com/ycbbg5e

Excellent show, in fact you guys did so well I’m contemplating taking another couple of weeks off.

  3. Capt. A says:

    I’m with you, Pete.

    “Seinfeld” is embarrassing.

  4. Be3t says:

Be3t here.  That’s pronounced “Bet.”  The 3 is silent.

Wow, the energy!  I’m impressed!  When you do it the 200th time, we’ll see how that goes.

Harvey Pekar was one of a kind.  If you’re an Anthony Bourdain fan, he did a show from Cleveland where he and Harvey hung out and ate a lot.  It was SO fun.

So, Siskita and Mike share joint custody of ThePete’s butt?  Excellent!  I hope Mike pays ass support.

I didn’t not like “The Incredibles!”  It’s just down the list.  Hey, still love it.  (Hadji!)  But loved “TS3.”  Perfect ending.  Could NOT have been better.

God, the heat.  Tell me global warming is a myth!  Just tell me!  Virginia is suffering the climate of South Carolina!  Naysayers!

Nic Cage should get the Harrison Ford Award, though I don’t think he did anything good save for “Fast Times at Ridgemeont High.”

Fuck off, BP! And google, like I said, they follow you!  You rule, my hair! (I can’t vouch for my hair on the recital facebook videos, I was all sweaty and it frizzed with humidity.)

LOVED the topic.  Too much to comment on.  You guys rule!  (Milo loves you both!)

OK, this is your comment when you comment while listening.  SORRY!

(RIP, Boo the Kitty.  Love you!)

  5. ThePete + Siskita = awesome HuckleSubs.

I’m writing to ask for hands on the screen for my upcoming two-day ordeal at the fairgrounds. I’m feeling pretty good about my chances, but any extra help is appreciated.

“Biggs, Wedge, close it up. We’re going in, and we’re going in full throttle. That oughta keep those fighters off our tails.”

  6. thepete says:

    Who are these people?

    Where’s Bet and Stennie??

Strange, one of *my* favorite Hucklebug moments was that bit where they suggested sex with Ward Cleaver would be a little rough, too!

    WHAT THE—!?

Nothing more from me this week. I kind of agreed with everything they said, so… ?

  7. Kelly with a Y says:

Yeah!  I love the Hucklesubs!!!  Now I know what you guys sound like!!  You two are so cute!

I didn’t know Mike owned your butt Pete!

I agree, that Mr. Potato Head bit was priceless in TS3!

  8. Mike says:

    I hope I’m in time!

    1) I had no idea I owned a part of TheButt.  I thought I traded it for a microphone.

    2) Departures: excellent.  I watched it a few weeks ago.  It was the Best Foreign Language Pic for 2008, though Revanche was also terrific (tho Baader-Meinhof Complex is a bit overrated).

    3) Battle In Seattle…..meh.  There’s a story there waiting to be told….but this wasn’t it.

    4) Oops, I’m running out of time.

I’m eager to see who our overlords are this week.
