I don’t know if Sharknado was technically a made-for-tv-movie or not. I know it aired first on TV, but supposedly it will be screening for a couple of nights in theaters around the country at some point soon, with more graphic footage included (read: more shitty CG shark footage). So, I suspect they shot it and cut it down for an R rating but then recut it for TV. Then they’ll release it on DVD with the extra graphic stuff. They’re doing the theater screenings only because everybody loved/hated it.

But what I just typed used up way more brain-power than Sharknado deserves. ;P

I’ve been feeling the urge to put on some MST3K just to get some humor back into my life. Some non-how-shitty-is-the-world humor, I mean. Sierra and I are both thankful for “Whose Line is it?” coming back on TV and just last night we saw “The Cornetto Trilogy” on the big screen. “Shawn of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz” and “The World’s End.” Sadly, “The World’s End” (while funny as hell) was not as good as “Shawn” and “Hot Fuzz,” but the theater had technical issues and ran them out of order, so we still got to start and finish on high notes. That said, I’m still jonesing for more humor, so it’s time to dig into our old MST eps! Maybe I should live tweet them! 🙂

Kid Snippets is very funny. I’m still partial to kitties falling asleep, though. THAT WILL NEVER GET OLD.

I did thoroughly enjoy the Bowie Quiz–thanks, Scotty-Dude!

The Flash is faster than Superman, Bet. You definitely don’t want to have sex with that guy!

Aaand if you needed more proof that Hollywood has lost its mind, Ben Affleck just got cast as Batman in the big Superman/Batman movie. Even Ben Affleck said “Daredevil” sucked bad. He also said, I believe, “I’ll never do another super-hero movie.” I’d love to find video of him saying that… What is your guy’s take on this? I know Bet may not care, but I’m still curious!

Aaanyway, I think that’s it for me this week!

OMG, you guys nailed the Bowie quiz! I’m so impressed. I kind of thought I might fool you with Starman and The Man Who Sold The World, but I guess you know Bowie better than you thought you did. As I was making the quiz, and while listening to y’all take the quiz, I agreed with your comments that Bowie’s tunes are more familiar and memorable than most of his lyrics, which tend to be somewhat abstract and artsy. Even I don’t know – and don’t understand – all of his lyrics or the meanings of his songs. Bowie has said he likes to leave room for the listener to add their own interpretation to his music.

Here again is the quiz with the song titles included, plus I added links to the song videos for anyone who may be interested. Stennie, I strongly urge you consider using some of your iTunes bucks for Bowie’s most recent album, The Next Day, a brilliant return to form after a decade’s absence and it manages to sound completely modern while also serving as a retrospective of Mr. Bowie’s entire musical career. At the bottom, I’ve added links to music videos for the first four singles off the new album.

    FUCK!!!
Sorry, I just spent over an hour writing a detailed response with all the answers to the Bowie lyrics with links to the videos if anybody wanted to listen and then I posted it and…..it all disappeared! Wah!! 🙁

Anyway, I thought I could fool you with Starman and The Man Who Sold The World, but you ladies are both too brilliant! You nailed the quiz. Here are the answers below. Feel free to search Youtube if you want to hear the songs or see the videos. Stennie, I recommend you spend your iTunes money on The Next Day, Bowie’s newest album which is not only a fine return to form but also an audio survey of the man’s entire career. He has also returned to making music videos. Check out Where Are We Now?, The Stars (Are Out Tonight) starring Tilda Swinton, The Next Day starring Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard, and Valentine’s Day. Cheers!
