Clarification on my housing status – I am in a townhouse, so it’s minimal shoveling but it’s there. You would all know I moved if I had ever sent out my change of address/holiday cards from last year. Since they’re primarily change of address cards, I’m wondering if I can still send them out. NTCNTC’s picture would just be a year old.
DC drivers wave sporadically, but they do gesture to let you in.
The voice sounded like someone with cerebral palsy or some other kind of motor neurone disease. This gets me to my “I’m not a good Christian” pet peeve. We have a woman at church who has some kind of severe motor neurone disease and she’s barely intelligible. She’s in the rotation as a lector on Sundays. I know I’m supposed to be thinking that everyone should be allowed to make a joyful noise at church, but it takes forever and I can’t understand a word she’s saying. And they always give her the longest passages too!
I have only one fuck off for this week, and it may only because I have been watching a NatGeo marathon, but Eddie Money as a travel agent…. I want to kick him in the neck, and I can’t get the remote fast enough to shut him the hell up. Will post again after listening and walking this afternoon, just wanted to get that in there.
Greetings from Cozumel! Sending you lots of sun!
Stennie, very cool to hear about your show – break legs and hope it is going well!
I can understand your reticence about watching Trainspotting…it has a few intense scenes that may be a bit too rough for myself to watch again. But it’s so good and Ewan is amazing.
Thought of you gals re: Earworms while listening to a “How Jingles Work” podcast by Stuff You Should Know/ How stuff works.com. They talked about how Earworms work, how Jingles get into our heads, and how Rod Stewart wrote commercial jingles for a long time.
I love commercials where the black and white version of people (usually overweight people wearing sweatpants and tshirts and have no style sense) overact in their struggle to make some very simple item function. Hilarious.
Fairy G is sending you gals some care packages on Friday!
Bummer, I’m late. I didn’t even know…
Break a leg with your show, Sten! You should stream a performance live on the Internet–then the world can watch!!
Thanks so much for digging up the Goofy Gophers, Sten. So fun to rediscover things you’ve completely forgotten about. I think only they said “indubitably” and not H&J at all.
I’ve recently been learning about two characters Walt Disney created but stopped using for various reasons Horace Horsecollar and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. I spent last night downloading a slew of cartoons from You Tube with both characters (though more with Oswald) just to check them out. So funny how the blandest of all the Disney characters became the most well-known. Or maybe he was blanded-up in order to become the most well-known?
Since the last time I commented about “Doubtin’ Abby” I have since watched every episode of “Downton Abbey” and while I wouldn’t describe myself as “hooked,” I do enjoy it. It does have some supremely “soap opera” (in a bad way) moments that I have to look past, though. One of my favorite things to snicker at are how many times the phrase “we’ll know more in a few hours/the morning/after the test results/etc”. Any time someone is injured or is sick, someone says “we’ll know more in…” it happens SO often that it could almost be the Downton Abbey Drinking Game, I think.
I compare Zaphod to Ecks unfavorably, as well, Sten. So, I don’t look down on that either.
Sten your emotional gasps this week made me crack up. Which was bad, since I’m getting over a cold and laughing makes me cough still.

Too too funny…
Bet, good luck with the Sauerkraut Band! I hope it doesn’t dissolve completely!
And the most adorable stinger Oscar goes to…
Totally lost track of the days–I’m not late! YAY!
