I have no imagination but here’s my attempt at car names. I’ll start with the obvious choice for Bet that everyone will list : Hinkymobile, or the Hinky 1. Others might be Milocab or Pawtaxi. Everyone calls their Subaru Subie or Subie-Doo so I’ll skip those.
Stennie’s car might be named Phelps since it’s moving where it rains 10 months a year. Alternately, it might be Violet, Gem, or Miss Tutti if we extend names from To Kill A Mockingbird. Is that off limits? Are those names reserved for kitties?
I have a challenge for you two. I bought a new Honda Crosstour a week before Bet bought her Subaru (copycat). What would be a good name for it? Nothing with Duke or Socko is allowed. Get creative!
I agree, faxing is the way of the past. I had to go in person to my FCU to sign for a loan, just because they could only do the paperwork either in person or by FAX. Not PDF/email, but only FAX. Stupid.
I’m always tempted to call all Foresters “Clayton” or “Dr. F” in honor of MST3K. And the Coupe can be called, uh…Gary…those are my suggestions for now. My head’s too full and I’m lame this week in suggestions.
I *think* Price is Right offers cars as prizes….
There’s some spammer in my spam email box (which I check every once in a while for non-spam) that has the “From” set to “Neil DeGrasse Tyson.” But the body of the email just says “Hey…” and then a long URL of gobbledeegook. Incredibly cruel to this geek-nerd-woman-with-a-crush on Neil…
Stennie, thanks for some of those great Cockney references!!! I will write some of those down for safe-keeping, should I soon need to play someone with that accent or of that era. ThePete & I are enjoying “Copper,” set in 1860’s New York, and accents and references are all over the place in a neat way – this reminded me of it.
I’m heading off to Toronto tomorrow!!! If any Hucklebugger wants a doohickey in the shape of a favorite Disney character in their mailbox between now and the end of my contract, email me your snail mail address at sirein@sierrarein.com and Mickey will pop something in the mail to you.
Bai!!!!
YAY! Glad you guys enjoyed the video!
“We Made This Movie” was enjoyed by both of us, it’s true. It’s an independent film by a couple of writers from Letterman, but they made it on a shoestring and it doesn’t hurt the film’s quality at all. The only shame of the film is that it’s not really about five real high school kids making a shitty movie. But if you suspend your disbelief it’s pretty believable and it’s still pretty hilarious, even if you can’t. What was neat about the screening, itself, was that it was held inside the Ed Sullivan Theater, not only where Letterman shoots his show, but where my dad worked back in the early 90s. My dad helped refit the place when Letterman came over from NBC and brought it up to spec. Ironically, my dad he just been laid off from CBS, after 25 years, and had gotten a job at Sony when CBS hired Sony to refit the theater.
Would “Silverado” be another event like what we did for “The Apple”?
I visit Facebook when someone comments on my content or when I have some other very good reason to visit Facebook. I don’t go there as a habit because it’s just too easy to get distracted or, worse, into a political argument. I have way too many conservative family members to make regular Facebook visits any fun at all. :/
Vehicle names: I suggest “Ruby Red Ride of Bet” aka “The Triple R-B” for Bet’s car and for Stennie’s, “the Streak of Blue.” Sorry, guys, that’s all I got :/
I’m coming to think of science fiction and most genres as not really genres, at all, but as settings. Genres to me are more like “love stories” or “crime stories” or “coming of age stories”. All of those can be regular dramas, or take place in space or in the old west, even.
Instead of doing a CD mix exchange, can’t we just upload a bunch of tracks in a zip file to dropbox or something? It was the time/money spent burning the CDs and mailing them that always stopped me from partaking in the past.
Thanks for keeping me company tonight, ladies! It’s my first night alone after Siskita left for Toronto. π I’m already so lonely. No one to complain to about this week’s shitty episode of Doctor Who but the cat and he’s so stoic when he hears my opinion, I think he actually LIKED the episode!! Sucks having only married people and parents as friends. :/
Given that every piece of fruit or vegetable has a sticker on it now, I wonder how long it’ll be before every grape in a bunch and every kernel on a cob will have its own sticker too.
Awww Bet, quit teasing us with musical episode announcements!
I know I’m late to the party on this one, but I am glad to hear that Buster the Handsome, is doing well!!! Give him a kitty-sized hug for me.
Congratulations on winning your Pounds! Have you figured out how to redeem them?
Hey! I do like the Hucklebug Movie Commentary! I have watched the movies while listening to the commentaries. So there. But why don’t we do a global viewing?
By the way, and completely unrelated – my thing that doesn’t fit, if you will: Mirc works again.
I never did get my answer as to why Podmobile2 was retired. It seemed in very good condition to me.
I made at least one suggestion to P3’s name on Facebook, but I really think it is a girl. And maybe Lucile would be a good name? Or, you two could name your cars “Yin” and “Yang”?
The rhyming slang bit was fan fucking tastic! And Stennie said she had no show…
Oh, and Heidi – you did read another book this year: to Kill a Mockingbird. Ha, and you think I don’t pay attention.
This is getting to be a ThePete-length comment, eh? Too bad. I’m commenting while listening, so deal with it, and read every damn word.
