Sign me up for class!! I WANT A BEENIE
Thanks for the birthday wishes, ladies! I had sushi for lunch and Shake Shack for dinner! Doesn’t get much better than that. I would have seen “Prometheus” but it hadn’t opened yet. Probably for the best since, when I saw it on Saturday, I found it to be a teeny bit on the “meh” side, which was all the more frustrating since it really didn’t need to be. It was like the script just needed another draft or two.
And hey, did you guys know that Stennie’s choice of horse is named after a kind of mythical, headless fairy from Ireland? Read more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dullahan FASCINATING!
I think ad execs think those commercials are funny and that’s it. I challenge anyone to produce a human being who actually laughs out loud at those stupid things. I know I’ve mentioned before that commercials helped drive me away from watching broadcast Television at all.
I did as commanded and watched that “Thank you Hater” video on YT (how could I not, after dealing with a Jay-hater back in 2009?) and I agree the video was cute, but doesn’t come near the level of bile I have for negative commenters on YouTube or elsewhere on the ‘net. I don’t even like to talk about them because they’ll get their rocks off knowing we hate them–just like I’m sure some did watching that video, despite them being made fools of in it. And those folks in the middle were definitely names over in the UK. I recognized a couple of them from Doctor Who and Torchwood. So, not big names, obviously, but mild celebs.
That’s it from me this week!
I’d like to make a statement
Any bad comments about the movie “Yellow Submarine” will be ignored. I have memorized that movie from countless viewings in my childhood, and believe it is a fantastic movie, despite it being conceived during a drugged-out fever dream.
That is all.
My favorite TV couples: Sam & Al from “Quantum Leap,” Tom & Crow from “MST3K” – all damned good friends π
HAPPY FRIDAY!!
I will sign up for school too, but I’ll need to get a student loan (I’ll admit, it’s a lot of money for the beanie…can you just sell me the beanie? That I’ll pay cash for….)
I work with the film teacher from WCC and every quarter he shows three films to his students..yep…I get to sit in…
have I told you how much I love my job?
I told Bet that Bonnie Prince Billie was here this week..but I didn’t tell her I didn’t realize who he was until after his free “concert” (in the corner of Everyday Music) was over.
I love the “thank you haters”…I’ve been pretty protected…I’ve had no haters! BTW…did the “last minute minute” get by you? I’m taking a hiatus from the video production (sort of forced..my studio is no-more and the one I used last month sort of tanked) so the next few might be audio only…we’ll see how that goes (of course, there won’t be outtakes….)
I thought we did best couples already??? “couples” for PFC are two people living under the same roof “doing the nasty” as my boss likes to define them…I liked your non-traditional couples, but missed the CNR/BS connection…
I thought the last episode of “mad about you” showed Paul and Jamie divorced??
I liked the grandparents of “the waltons” because they snapped and sniped at each other, but they had that unconditional thing going, and they reminded me of my grandparents….(not the parents, they were boring…)
and F&G was one of my favorite shows..since my future SIL (James) was on it….;-)
and the razor blades stories started way before the 80’s in the 60’s I hate to say…I remember, it’s when I was still trick or treating…
Denise is in town tonight Stennie…get your ass here already!!!

Ladies, I think someone finally realized that the #squeeze IRC server was still there and took it down. I tried last night, and it was GONE. Fifteen years since it all began. Snifff.
The TV couple that springs to mind for me is David and Maddie, from “Moonlighting.” Kind of surprised no one mentioned them. Say what you want about Bruce Willis now, but back in the day, that was some great TV, IMO.
The USPS using the β’ to assert common-law trademark rights in Post Offices makes sense when you think about what a trademark is supposed to do: distinguish the USPS’ goods or services from its competitors’ and identify it as the source of those goods and services. It helps consumers and competitors understand that Post Offices are distinct from Mailboxes Etc. or UPS or other providers of packing goods and shipping services.
That said, it’s worth keeping in mind that the scope of trademark rights will always be limited to the classes of goods or services the mark is used with. The USPS has the right to exclude another shipping / packing company from using Post Offices or something confusingly similar, but they can’t stop, say, a band like The Postal Service from using that mark to identify itself as a provider of musical entertainment, because musical entertainment services are unrelated to Post Office services such that consumers are not likely to be confused or infer an affiliation between one and the other.
Similarly, if you all wanted to use Eat Fresh to promote the Hucklebug, there’s no basis for Hot Pockets to object, because there’s no relationship between the services you provide under that mark and the goods Hot Pockets promotes and brands with that mark. (It occurs to me that maybe I didn’t make that point clearly enough back when we first discussed it.)
