I don’t remember the first song I ever heard on CD, but I do remember one of my first CDs – a collection of classical music used in SciFi, or perhaps SciFi soundtrack pieces that were orchestral in nature. 2001’s “Waltz of the Blue Danube” and “Also Spoke Zarathustrahoweveryouspellit” were both on there.

Pete & I saw “Follies” last night with THE Bernadette Peters and THE Elaine Paige, and my earworms for the weekend will certainly be the entire soundtrack, in particular “One More Kiss,” “Leave You,” and “Broadway Baby.”

  2. I can’t clearly recall the first song I ever heard on CD, though I suspect it was one of those awful, new-agey Windham Hill things (George Winston or Shadowfax) with lots of wind chimes. Seems like those were the go-to demos at the PX (post exchange) in Korea.

The first CD I ever bought was The Cars “Heartbeat City,” followed closely by Dire Straits’ “Brothers in Arms.” I still have the latter, but haven’t listened to it in ages.

You’re doing the exact right number of podcasts. Switching to once every two weeks would only frighten and confuse us (me).

I like having weekly podcasts. I think people feeling as if they need to catch up is a compliment to you guys because we listeners do not want to miss anything. My problem is I just can’t get in to a rhythm of listening. Before Janet retired, I would stay up late listening to it after she had gone off to work the nightshift. Now she makes me get to bed early since I’m always complaining about being tired.

T-shirts I just can’t get rid of — my GHS Class of 1978 t-shirt. I even wore it to a ’70’s party once! Also, I have Intramural Champion t-shirts from my days at Virginia Tech that I can’t wear anymore but can’t get rid of. I also have Hard Rock London shirts, both mine and Janet’s (she wanted to get rid of hers and I wouldn’t let her) but I never wear them. (I do wear my Edinburgh and Dublin ones often.)

My boss’s 22-year old son was murdered Wednesday night. She worked all day with us yesterday not knowing and then I guess the police went to her house last night. So can I just have a big F.O. for guns and violence?!
