To answer your question: it wasn’t a woody, it was a Chevy Schlong. Fully-loaded, but – besides a girlfriend or two – I mostly drove it solo throughout high school. These days, it’s up on blocks where the kids still occasionally kick it in the tires.
My first three guesses about additions to the KFC Famous Bowl.
1. Bigger bowl
2. Bigger “collectible” bowl
3. Hot fudge
So, bacon was a nice surprise.
Wow. The medicine cabinet thing was enlightening. I’m still flushed, and a bit raw. Perhaps Tucks will help.
I will attempt to scrounge together a top-notch movie mashup quiz in the very near future. In the meantime, I will need all of you kids in the audience to clap as you would for Tinkerbell, but only if you do believe in Lost Causes.
Also – Stray Cats!!! 2012 and beyond!!!
!!!
Happy 250th! Who’da thunk it?
I’m still listening — the newegg fiasco was this past February/March. I got it all squared with the credit card company and other defrauded vendors (credit is much easier than debit — you’re not waiting for your money back; you’re simply not going to pay). Citibank took it seriously, as did Microsoft (dude had bought a computer). I had found out about the fraud when MS calls my house saying “There’s something wrong with the address you gave us to ship the laptop” “Wha?” I also had a skateboard cover shipped to my house. I think this was the scariest thing — whoever stole the number knew where I lived and had my address and home phone number — probably from my order information. But something in the transaction, according to MS security, was from either Washington State or Idaho — so the dude was out there. It was Citibank and some Google searching that told me that this is not an isolated incident with Newegg.
This is a shame, as I used to be a happy Newegg customer. But their nasty attitude and noncooperation tells me that it’s likely someone in their fraud department itself. Can’t do business with them again.
Just thought I would clarify the name of the hospital Janet has retired from and at which I still work. For years, The Medical College of Virginia has been a part of the Virginia Commonwealth University but never actually in its name. The school (VCU) had an identity crisis a few years back and wanted to let the world know that the medical school and the university (excellent art school, especially sculpture, and well known for fashion school, too) were all the same. So now the hospital’s official name is VCU Health Systems Medical College of Virginia (try saying that when you answer the phone). There are two campuses — with the academic campus being on the edge of downtown and the famous old Richmond neighborhood called The Fan; the medical school is downtown with the hospital.
I’m never sure about suggesting a topic since I’ve only been listening for less than two years but what about for a Thanksgiving topic, Five People I Would Thank If I Could. It wouldn’t have to be sappy — some could be sappy, of course, but some could be funny, too.
Thanks for the surprise ‘you rule’I was touched. I see Donna has already addressed the VCU/MCV issue so I will just add that VCU health systems children’s hospital has now been added to the mix. I feel for the media who have coped with about half a dozen name adjustments over the years.
About the British monarchy it is so steeped in history and tradition that it will last forever. You should checkout the royal website and see all the plans for the Queen;s diamond jubilee next year.I want to see the 1000 ship flotilla on the Thames.
Change comes at a glacial pace and started with the relaxation of tradition on divorce and allowing royalty to marry for love in this generation. Princess Margaret the Queen’s sister was not allowed to marry the commoner she loved and ended up divorced. The monarchy also rules the British Commonwealth so all those countries and protectorates had to approve the current changes which were recently discussed at a meeting attended by the Queen in Australia.
Congratulations on the 250. That’s really something. I don’t think I’ve ever said so, but one thing I’ve long appreciated about this podcast is just the fact that you do it. That alone sets you apart from the vast majority who only consume without creating.
It’s unusual that you make something, but all the more so that it’s so good. Bravo to you both.
Patton Oswalt is kind of (in)famous for his screed on the KFC famous bowls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfan5MacmsI I just heard that on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me last week.
