There you two are…….. it’s been a while.
Haven’t listened yet, but I’m loving the new site with the sock puppet buddies!
Sorry to all of your guest hosts for not commenting. I enjoyed you greatly! But I’m also glad to have the ladies back! I missed you! I’d do a guest spot with Marla or krizzer or anyone. I don’t know if I could pull off my end of a whole show though.
Ps- what did you do to get the sock puppet photos to pop like that ?
Oh! I saw In The Loop this weekend. I loved it! I’m keeping the DVD to watch again
Wait… In her commentary about the Floyd fest, did Bet say she felt like she was in a menstrual show???
I vote for tossing movies. Bet doesn’t have any most of the time, anyhow.
Women (and sometimes men) in the supermarket checkout who seem surprised that they’re actually going to have to play for their groceries, then fumble around in their purses for their checkbooks, spend ten minutes writing out a check, fumble around some more for their wallets when the cashier asks for their discount cards or IDs, and then spend what seems like the good part of an hour rearranging ALL the stuff in their purses before they leave the line with their groceries! I WANNA KILLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!
I like your new website design. Good job. As much as I loved our Overlords, it’s nice ot have you two back.
As for format changes, I’d say drop whatever topic isn’t important that week. If neither of you wanted to mention a movie I’d drop the segment until you do. Forget RIPS for the week unless they were important to you. My two cents worth – have a list of standard topics (both old and new) that you pick 4 or 5 from each week depending on what you felt like discussing. It may turn out you never feel like discussing the old topics because you’re tired of them. That’s fine too (although when Alan Arkin kicks off I’m sure Bet will mention it). I personally wouldn’t want the movie segment to completely vanish although there might be weeks between noteworthy movies.
If you two are having fun discussing something your audience will have fun too. Just pick topics you both enjoy and the podcast will be great. If you keep it interesting for you, it’ll be interesting for us. The actual topics you pick are only important in how how much fun you both have talking about it.
Either that, or you can use the Force.
As far as the segments go, I agree with Duke. You can pick whatever 4-5 topics you feel like discussing that week (out of a pool of maybe 9-10) and change things up for the next episode. I don’t really want to see anything disappear forever, but if highlights/lowlights isn’t anything special for a while, don’t feel like you’re obligated to find something.
I liked Inception quite a bit, and although I’m not sold on the genius of Christopher Nolan, he sure tells a story well. I forgot that he did The Prestige, which is probably my favorite of his, followed now by Inception and then The Dark Knight. Batman Begins was kinda boring.
I thought Charlie And The Chocolate Factory was quite good.
Btw, which sock puppet is which up there?
Contrary to popular opinion, Mr. Stripey is the actual type of tomato, not my pet name for it. Here is a link:

I actually call it Bob.
It’s your show, do what you want on it. If it’s not fun, don’t do it.
Oh of course except for shout outs to me. Those are mandatory.
Interesting fact I found out this week when I saw that the inventor of Cheez Doodles died. He lived in my hometown — how did we not know to go trick or treating over there? I bet the house was orange.
Lily, because of that Cheez Doodle guy all my touch screens are orange. Thanks a lot.
YAY! You’re BACK!!
We were sitting in the floor!! We’d have it no other way!!
I thought the Buster in heaven was Buster Keaton…
Glad you ladies like Ballpoint Adventures! I’m drawing new ones and posting “vintage” strips at http://thepete.com/ics I keep telling myself I’m going to draw other comics, but I think I’m lying to myself. I’m so guarded sometimes even I don’t know what I’m up to. O_O
The advantage of Jay & Kay doing an *audio* podcast is that post productions is WAY easier. Video = time/effort
The new hucklebug.com design looks GREAT. Very nicely done!
POTA is awesome, I think, even if you know the ending. It’s all about society and “civilization.” It’s written by Rod Serling for crying out loud! Watch it!!
Yeah, I disagree with Stennie on “Inception.” I had issues with all the dream stuff and the ending, but felt like these problems don’t add up to much next to the fact that I didn’t care about anyone or anything that was going on.
Aw, thanks for the You Rule! π We did our best! I’m glad you guys were happy! I’m also glad everyone else seemed to enjoy us, too.
Not to poop on your adoration of Robert Duvall, Bet, but he did some of the voice over for John McCain’s big propaganda video at the RNC back in 2008. He even used his own name, as though he were 100% comfortable supporting McCain. π I still like him as an actor, but every time I see him in something I remember him doing that voice over and smirk.
Being an NYC resident I’m used to plenty of people wasting my time, but what bugs me is folks who block foot traffic. You know, people who just stop walking down the sidewalk and don’t get out of the way–IT’S THE BIG APPLE, KIDS! PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! That and people stopping at the top/bottom of steps escalators or just outside of elevators. OH and people who don’t let you exit the subway or elevator first before they come in. HATE ‘EM!
I’m with Mike (though I think Chris Nolan is very overrated and *did* like “Batman Begins” quite a bit), I like Duke’s suggestions–but I suggest you come up with more ideas for regular segments and rotate them in and out of the show depending on how prepared you are for each segment. Or don’t change a thing. Honestly, I enjoy it just the way it is. But if you’re bored, then you’re bored. Like LilyG says: It’s your show! Of course, it is *us* that has to listen to it.
Duke: do you have a picture of Bob anywhere? Does he have a blog, maybe? I’d love to better know Bob.
Hey ladies!
I like the new site design – crisper, smoother & without all the chunks.
I’ll email an mp3 of my Hucklebuck with & without vocals.
And if Kay gets to sing each State of the Union address, she will gladly become Prez!
And we joked that we needed to sit in the floor, so it’s true!!!
I’m on Stennie’s side on wanting to sit down with my cats and talk to them for an hour. That would be most illuminating, alhtough I fear Zaphod would suddenly get distracted by something shiny. I looooove kittens and would say get one when it feels right, but that’s merely my opinion.
Re: Inception: see ThePete’s comment, or my rant on Facebook.
I like the concept of What’s Up With That!
What did Stennie do for the first time these past weeks.
YEAAAAHH!!! You guys are good at this, too!!
To like clarify, we weren’t in the floor, we were floating above it. It’s a puppet thing, man. Yeah.
OH YEAH, man, I’d LOVE to be vice president, man!! It’d totally rock going for ice cream, tossin’ back brews with the president’s black and white friends in the back yard of the White House and like I’d LOVE giving lip to some snot-nosed fry-cook who wants to be a smart-ass in front of the world, man! Little punk in a paper hat! MAN!!
What bugs me sometimes is when people don’t look me in the eyes when I’m talkin’ to ’em. They look at ThePete or something, it’s like HELL-O, man!!
Anyway, we had a blast Hucklesubbing! THANKS FOR LETTING US HOST YOU GUYS!! YEAHHHH!!!
Oh and stop by http://jay.thepal. us for some cool pro-Hucklebug propaganda videos this weekend!! Jay ThePal loves the Hucklebug!! SWERT!!!
Aw, crap, man, that was supposed to be “SWEET” not “SWERT”. Damn… my fingers are tiny and it’s hard to type with one hand, man.
AW NO! That sounds dirty–I was typing with one hand because I only have one hand that works, man!! I wasn’t… uh, you know…
Man, I should just make ThePete do all my typing… damn…
Yeah! You’re back! I started listening in the car on the way to work, so I haven’t finished the entire ep yet, but wanted to get my comment in!
Welcome back Hucklebuggers! *hug*
